Malaysia’s Journey to the Ice

Through the ‘Malaysia’s Journey to the Ice’ programme, Malaysian polar researchers were afforded the opportunity to share their personal experiences and research endeavours with secondary school students. Through a series of interactive and motivational talks, they highlighted the challenges they had faced while participating in Antarctic research expeditions. The programme has been held in 20 secondary schools throughout Malaysia and has received overwhelming positive feedback from both students and teachers alike. The net result of this initiative has been its ability to ignite interest in STEM related subjects amongst students as evidenced by their expressions of interest in pursuing their studies in STEM related disciplines with some even evincing an interest in becoming a polar researcher.
