Diorama Creation Competition Based On Recycled Materials

Preliminary Round

  1. Closing date for submission of concept papers: 5 September 2021 – CLOSED
  2. Evaluation period: 6 – 12 September 2021
  3. Announcement of finalists: 13 September 2021

Last Round

  1. Project Period: 13 September – 6 October 2021
  2. Finalist evaluation: October 7 – October 16, 2021
  3. 6. Announcement of winners: 25- 27 October 2021

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION

  1. Open to all secondary schools throughout Malaysia including schools under the Ministry of Education Malaysia and private schools in Malaysia. The organizers have obtained permission to implement the program from Malaysia Education Ministry.
  2. The theme of the competition is ‘Polar Regions in a Climate Change Crisis’.
  3. Students need to produce a diorama or a portable landscape that reflects elements of the polar region (Antarctica or Arctic) and touches on issues of climate change by using recycled materials.
  4. Participation is individually or in groups not exceeding five (5) people students and is recommended to seek advice from the coordinating teacher. (For groups all discussions should be done online)
  5. Each school may submit more than one (1) entry.
  6. Contest results must be in the form of mobile production and not permanent. The size project site should not exceed 594mm x 841mm (Size A1)
  7. Assessment is based on:
      • The results of the competition must follow the theme of the competition.
      • Optimal use of recycled items.
      • Neatness and creativity
  8. Recycled items accepted for the competition are aluminum, plastic, paper, cloth, electronic goods (E_WASTE) or categorized goods as a recyclable item. Materials from glass and iron will not be counted.
  9. The products produced will be used by the organizers as exhibition materials at the 9th Malaysian International Seminar on Antarctica and exhibitions others organized by YPASM. The name of the school will be displayed on the diorama result on all exhibitions.
  10. The organizer reserves the right to conduct a visit to the school to assess the validity the product that has been produced.

  12. The organizers will provide a micro-grant of RM50 to 20 participants/ groups selected to the final stage based on the concept paper sent. Any additional costs will not be borne by the promoter

HOW TO SUBMIT A FIRST STAGE ENTRY

  1. Each entry must produce a concept paper on a diorama sketch or the landscape to be produced according to the template provided. Paper template the concept can be found at ypasm.my
  2. Each entry must be submitted through the entry form available at www.ypasm.my before 5 September 2021. A total of 20 best participants/groups will be shortlisted for the finals.

 

HOW TO SUBMIT ENTRY FOR SELECTED PARTICIPANTS TO FINALIST LEVEL

  1. Each finalist must produce one explanatory video of the diorama produced and the video should not exceed 3 minutes in duration.
  2. Participants must describe the three main evaluations and will be judged by a jury based on the following:
      • The results of the competition must follow the theme of the competition.
      • Optimal use of recycled items.
      • Neatness and creativity
  1. The video produced must be audio and visually clear to allow for judging implemented effectively.
  2. The completed video should be submitted in video format (mp4, avi, mov or any other format appropriate) and delivered using google drive and share the link and email to urusetiadiorama@gmail.com before 6 October 2021.
