Messages from Antarctica Exhibition
In 2015, YPASM collaborated with Department of Museums Malaysia (JMM) to sculpt 49 life-sized Emperor penguins to raise awareness about the threat posed by rising sea levels and global temperatures to Malaysia. The number 49 was chosen to symbolise Malaysia’s accession to the ATS while the sculptures were made by 25 volunteers during a workshop on sculpting techniques held at the National Museum. These 49 emperor penguins along with 10 infographic panels about Antarctica constituted the main exhibits of an roadshow that has since graced the precincts of the National Museum, the National Zoo, the Natural History Museum Putrajaya, the Raja Tun Uda Library Shah Alam, the Terengganu Science and Creativity Centre and several scientific fairs, expositions and arts and culture festivals in the country.
